When mentioning Hyundai IX35, we have to firstly introduce Hyundai Tucson because there are many connections between them. The 1^st generation Hyundai Tucson was released in South Korea in 2004, and later exported to other countries, or manufactured by joint ventures with local car companies, for example, in Japan, it was also known as Hyundai JM, and in China, it appeared on the Chinese market in 2005, manufactured by the joint venture Beijing Hyundai, and it is the beginning of Beijing Hyundai's SUV products because it was the first SUV manufactured by Beijing Hyundai.

In 2009, the 2^nd generation Hyundai Tucson with codename LM was released. Unlike the 1^st generation Hyundai Tucson, it was still called as Hyundai Tucson in South Korea and the North American, however, in other countries and regions such as Europe and China, it was called as Hyundai IX35, this was also the 1^st generation Hyundai IX35.

Hyundai Tucson has been defined as the global name since this generation, but Hyundai IX35 are still produced and sold in China, and the 2^nd generation Hyundai IX35 for the Chinese market was released in 2017, the 1^st generation Hyundai IX35 in the Chinese market is considered as the twin model of Hyundai Tucson, but the 2^nd generation Hyundai IX35 in China has nothing relationship with Hyundai Tucson, this IX35 nameplate has been retained here just because it has a good sales status in the Chinese market.

In the Hyundai diecast model market, you can only find the 1/18 scale 2^nd generation Hyundai IX35 diecast model, which is the replica works of the Hyundai IX35 launched in 2017. At the beginning, only the red model was released. With the popularity of the 2nd generation Hyundai IX35 in the Chinese market, the same diecast model in blue and white were also released.

In 2020, the 2^nd generation Hyundai IX35 with a facelift exterior was released at the Guangzhou Auto Show, but no related diecast car models have been released so far.
